Larry Adamache Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I tried to open Affinity Photo by clicking on an .afphot file. It resulted in a notice of an update to version 1.10.5.1342 and request to download. Now I know that we are on version 2.04 so I closed the application. When I open the app by itself it opens correctly as 2.04. What's going on??? Quote

You could change it to open with version 2, but then if you have a lot of old version one files which you still want to use in version one I would leave it alone. You will see the warning Opening an old version when you open older version files with the new version so if you can put up with that then change the default to open all .aphoto files in version two. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
walt.farrell Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Most likely, your OS is currently set to open .afphoto files in Photo, not in Photo 2. Each file extension can have only one application associated with it, and for you that's Photo. If you want it to be Photo 2 you need to tell your OS that. For example, on Windows you could right-click on the file in File Explorer and then click Open With and then click Choose Another App and then click on Photo 2 and at the bottom of the dialog "Always use this app". Larry Adamache Posted February 10, 2023 Author Posted February 10, 2023 I think I found the solution. There was an operating system (Win11) upgrade last night and it reset my default app to Ver 1. I changed it back to Ver 2 and now it's OK (I think). walt.farrell 1 Quote
stuck Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 If you still have Photo 1 installed, and it sounds like you do, then it would make sense to keep it up to date. If you just open Photo 1, without any image, it should reoffer you the update. Old Bruce 1 Quote
