To better explain what I am lookin for:

I would like to be able to offset the center of a gradient within itself.

I can offset the entire gradient in relation to the object its drawn in but I can't offset the center of the gradient to itself.

This would end up looking like one side of the gradient is compressed. See attached image.

original (that I regret posting):

I don't understand why this is even missing. Seems like it should be a basic feature of any radial/elliptical gradient system.

Yes there are work arounds but they aren't great and take a lot more time than just moving the origin.

Thanks.

That's what the Fill/Gradient tool is for:

That said, there are a few instances where the Fill tool is unavailable, like for gradients in Publisher's paragraph decorations. That's definitely a UI design flaw

Sorry I've been away from my machine and didn't have a chance to pull this down yet.

I am still curious why there is such a difference between filling with a gradient and using the gradient tool and why filling with a gradient doesn't enable the gradient tool options when accessed through Fill.

What I was ultimately looking for isn't available and I will be editing this post in an attempt to better articulate my actual needs.

Thanks!
