When I modify linked files I get an error

I work with a lot of linked files. Every time I modify a linked file I get this error (see image). Then I have to do a "save as" to not lose the work because some times I get a crash or I can't save the document.
Every time I have to modify a linked file I have to first close Publisher, modifify the Deisgner file, than reopen the Publisher file, and so on.

Can you say more about how you're trying to modify them? What workflow do you use?

Where are your files stored?

E.g. Internal drive, External Drive, Network, NAS, cloud service, USB drive etc

PS your attached documents work OK for me. Modifying the linked file seems to work just fine in a quick test

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I create some files in Designer. Then I import those files in Publisher as linked files. Then at some point I need to modifiy a file so I open the file with Designer, modify somenthing and save. When I save and come back to Publisher I get the error message.

The files are stored in a Synology NAS but I tried also with files on the desktop and I have the same problem.
