Catshill Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 In version 1 this function worked fine. In version 2 if I have a linked resource (in this case a ADe file placed in a picture frame), make a change to it and save it, APu does not update the resource. Even worse, if I go to Resource Manager, the button to manually update the linked resource is greyed out. The only option is to chose Replace... and link the same document, If I untick Auto update linked resources in Preferences, I get the warning about a resource being changed again so I am prompted to do the manual update, and the Update.. button is available, so that is slightly preferable. Catshill Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 It has now started auto-updating again. I suspect a memory issue but I am not sure I trust it. Quote
Dan C Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Hi @Catshill, Thanks for your report! I have tested this here using a linked .afdesign file, within an .afpub document. I then opened the .afdesign file in Designer 2 for editing and made drastic changes to the file, adding new objects, recolouring layers and even placing a 'heavy' .DNG file to significantly increase the .afdesign file size. I then saved and closed the document in Designer 2 and tabbed back to Publisher 2, at which point the document had already been updated on the canvas, with the 'toast' informing me of such. As above, we've only seen this issue being reported previously when using files saved in a Dropbox location, and I'm unfortunately unable to replicate this issue currently. Therefore I'd like to request a Package of your .afpub file, as this will include the linked .afdesign file and allow me to test further here. Can you please create this Package, then upload this to the below link for me? https://www.dropbox.com/request/TrEwSZdxBz8IyLaYN3Oy Once uploaded, please reply here to let me know. Many thanks in advance Quote
yukonPete Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Not sure if this helps. When updating a designer file within the publisher persona, I hit save, and then get a message from resource manager. I would go there and find things greyed out and have to quit/reopen the file to get the update. Then I tried ignoring the resource manager window and the publisher file automatically was updated. Not sure what is going on but it made me think that the 2.0.4 update around dropbox files wasn't working. But it actually is. Peter walt.farrell 1 Quote

I am happy to do that but as I say above, once I closed down APu and rerestarted my PC, the issue has gone away so I am not sure how me sending you the very large package will help? Quote
Dan C Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Apologies, thanks for confirming that for me - if this issue is no longer occurring for you then I suspect that I'll see the same behaviour here with your files, so this shouldn't be necessary. I will update the development log regarding Dropbox linked files with the information provided above for our team to investigate further - I am hopeful that this Dropbox fix should also address the issue you encountered, but without being able to replicate this it is hard for me to confirm. Should this issue return, please let me know here Quote
