How to move 2 selections independently made with the elliptical marquee tool

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have tried using the elliptical marquee tool to change eye colors but after I create the selections for both eyes, I am unable to reposition one of the selections independently of the other. They both move together. The reason being that I am not always able to draw both circles perfectly over the eyes, so I may have to reposition one of them slightly but not the other. I have tried several things but without success. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Hi.

When you have selected the first eye, do a cmd J. That will place the selection on it's own layer.

Go back to the main layer again and select the other eye. Do the cmd. J again.

Now you have one background layer, and two layers with one eye on each and you can move them individually.

Can you see your layers panel?

Can you see what layer is selected when you move your selections?

Is it possible that you have them grouped?

If you take a screenshot including your layers panel, it will be easier to see what's going on.
