Not sure if this is a new feature or function but when I use the delete key to remove text within a text frame or using artistic text, it only removes text to the previous space, thus only one word at a time.  I am using Affinity Publisher V2 for iPad.  Is there a setting available to repeatedly delete text (backspace) until the delete key is lifted?

Hi Dmaxm,

Welcome to the forums :)

This seems to be working as expected for me does this issue still occur using the latest version of the Publisher iPad app? If so please could you tell me if you are holding down any modifier keys etc and if possible could you provide a screen recording of the issue?

Thanks

Hi Callum,

Thanks for responding to my issue.  Upon creating the screen recording, I did find that if I move my cursor inside a word and then use the delete key, it removes text as normal.  However, it still does not act normally if the cursor starts at the end of the word.  Strange.  I changed personas to Designer 2 within the same document but had the same issue.  In the recording, I first used a text box and also created artistic text.  Both with the same result.

Additionally, I’ve tried using a couple of different page setups (Letter and iPad 12.9) when creating a new document to start.  No difference with the result.

The only key pressed was the delete key.

I am using version 2.0 4.1701.

A reinstall might be my next step, especially since it works as expected for you.

Thanks,

Dave

I'm hoping this is the same oddity I have. I use delete a lot to 'delete' text as I type. However, recently (over the last couple of updates?) I notice that doing this deletes the whoelk text frame. Really annoying. The only way around is to stop mid flow, click agian in the text box where I want to correct and then use the delete key. Bit laborious. Is there a setting to opt for 'normal/previous' delete key behaviour? – A good exampel is typing this question I am deleting and retying as I go (usually because I hit the wrong key). In this instance the delete key does what I expect. But IN Publisher (and I presume the other apps), the delete key removes everything.

thanks for any insights

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy, this is a known bug and there are multiple ways to trigger it. I hope it's fixed soon because it is rather annoying, although easy to fix with Undo. You can find out more in this thread.

My issue still exists.  It's only with the iPad version and not the desktop app.  In my case, I can only backspace or delete one character at a time.  Same goes for repeating any keyboard function.  If I hold down the space bar (or any other key), it will only add one space until I lift the key and press it again.  It's really annoying when using the delete or backspace key to remove text.  My other iPad apps act "normal" in regards to the keyboard input.
