Designer unintended fill of pixel layers

Recommended Posts

Hi,

  1. New file
  2.  add pixel layer(s)
  3. brush in some content
  4. group pixel layers
  5. activate move tool
  6. set stroke color while group is selected in layers panel

pixel layers inside group get filled with stroke color. Bug or feature?

I know of course that you can use the fill tool on groups to set a fill on all contained vector objects.

But seeing a stroke fills pixel layers while move tool or shape tool is active seems over the top.

Which app are you using?

In Photo, in the Color Studio, the left circle/well is the fill, and the right one is the stroke, when you're dealing with vector objects. But when dealing with Pixel objects it's just foreground/background, I think, not fill/stroke. And both have the effect you mentioned, if applied to a group of pixel layers.

This even happens if you have the hand tool active which should protect against unintended chages.
So double check which layer is active whenever coming near to color panel. Could loose all pixel layer content without noticing.

Given that you were in Designer (I don't think your video was there when I looked earlier?), it seems inappropriate that changing the Stroke should affect the entire layer.

So that certainly feels like a bug. Also, it does not occur on Windows. Nor on Designer v1 on iPad.

Also: On Windows, the Designer Pixel Persona shows two solid circles in the Color studio. But on iPad it shows stroke and fill. That's at least inconsistent, and possibly another bug.

Recording was from Designer (mentioned in title of this thread, but this can be overlooked easily)

For me it is more an UI trap / inconsistency.

Photo showing background / foreground color even when dealing with vector objects (so you can't see in fill or stroke gets impacted) is another weakness of crippled UI.
