Mr. Doodlezz Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Hey everyone, I wonder if this is a bug or a feature: Current behaviour: If I use the Rectangle Tool (M) and then switch to the Corner Tool (C), then work on one or more corners and release the mouse button, the tool automatically switches to the Node Tool (A) – is this a feature or a bug? Personally, I find this irritating and not really intelligible, because rarely I get the curve right with just one click and go. Expected behaviour: In Designer V1, the corner tool remained active after the rectangle was converted into a path object, which I would prefer. Can someone please check if it works the same for them and/or if it is a bug? Quote

Apparently "by design". That has been confirmed in a similar context just recently: Mr. Doodlezz 1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
Mr. Doodlezz Posted January 27, 2023 Author Posted January 27, 2023 Oh wow, thanks for the quick confirmation, @loukash! Man, I wish that was toggleable in the settings though. 😞 Cpt. Tom 1 Quote
Cpt. Tom Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Yes It's so annoying, that we get forced into a feature that a couple of people demanded. Please integrate a toggle for this! This is also not something I wouln'd want to switch quickly, so you can put the toggle in the preferences. This really slows down my working process since I work with geometric forms a lot and a round the corners with different radius's. Also this is counter intuitive when using the shape builder tool. In General: Please think about your change management. When you implement a change like this, keep in mind that you might have users that do not benefit from it because it's destroying their workflow. It's ok to force the change on people so they can experience the change, but make it optional after all. In Addition: I know you have a lot on your plate but just as a suggestion. When you change something that already worked in a particular way you could add a small comment popup next to the tool with an info like "We change the behavior of this tool. Click here if you want to know more or don't like it" and than it opens up the help article that describes how to deactivate it. Mr. Doodlezz and Makaii 2 Quote
