White to Transparent

Recommended Posts

I am assuming Aph.

So you have intentionally blown out the whites and now want to select them to remove them. A few ways.... One quick way is to use the flood selection tool. First I like do duplicate the image layer, and then toggle the original photo layer visibility off. Next, rasterize the duplicated layer. In this way I can go back or do before and afters. Grab the flood selection tool, uncheck Contiguous and set the tolerance low and drag over white. You may want to REFINE at this point. Once you are happy with your selection, hit delete and the selected color be deleted. You will need to play around with the tolerance and experiment a bit.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
