macOS Ventura 13.1 (22C65)

They import as document and application palettes just fine, but do not import as System palettes. The app opens the filesystem and allows me to select a .ase file, then the filesystem closes as usual, but nothing is imported.  I have tested with multiple different .ase files and tried restarting the app after importing.

Steps to Reproduce:

Swatches > Import Palette > As System Palette > select .ase file

Notes:

obviously not a huge issue as you can just import as document palettes, export a .afpalette, and reimport, but its an inconvenience for sure.

System Palettes would use (and require) the .clr format, I think, not the .ase format.

But it probably should prevent you from selecting the .ase file at all.

Hi @aaron bastian,

Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.

Personally, I am not 100% certain if these .ASE palette files can be accepted as System Palettes within Affinity - however from my research it appears this may have been possible in a previous version of Affinity V1 & therefore I'm logging this with our developers now for further investigation.

I will request in this bug report to re-implement support for this filetype, however if we are now unable to do this due to a change in macOS etc, then I will request that these files cannot be selected from the import System Palette dialog to reduce confusion.

I hope this helps!

For reference, you can add .ase palette files as system palettes in V1.7.3...
