firstdefence Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 All you can do is try and tweak the Basic and lens settings, I did this with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it's RAW DNG file, so i opened the file in Affinity Photo Dev persona and also had it open in Preview, I tweaked the settings as best I could to get a similar look because it's not just the exposure and colour it's the lens distortion as well, Affinity seems to barrel the image somewhat. Dan C Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Hi @hitze, Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here. As covered here - Quote When you view a RAW file on the iPhone, it effectively shows you a preview of how the photo would look with the standard processing, but the actual ProRAW file has none of these edits The same is true of viewing the file in Preview, this is not displaying the actual RAW data itself, which may appear differently when loading the RAW file in a RAW editor. " Unfortunately Apple do not embed this profile within the RAW file (as shown in the below screenshot, no colour profile is listed), nor do they provide the option to manually download this colour profile for use in any app, so this isn't supported in Affinity currently. From my understanding this requires Apple providing us with the ProRAW profile to distribute with the Affinity apps - seeming they have only provided this to Adobe at this time. I have been able to achieve results closer to the image shown in Preview when using the Apple Core RAW engine in Affinity, however as above the sRGB profile will still be used at this time. In order to change this setting, please open the Affinity app and navigate to Affinity Photo 2 > Preferences > Assistant > Develop Assistant... and in the dialog that opens change the RAW engine from Serif Labs to Apple Core Image and then load your DNG file once again. We certainly hope to include the Apple ProRAW profile in a future update, but as mentioned this will require Apple to provide us access and distribution rights to this profile. I hope this clears things up! Quote
hitze Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Hi Dan C - Thanks for the information. However, the change in -> Apple Core Image creates way too bright, pale images AND you lose the ability to develop the RAW output in a format other than 'pixel layer'.... not a good way to go for a workflow within Affinity Photo....
