Publisher/Data Merge instructions are wrong in the help system.

Recommended Posts

having spent literally decades doing mailmerges in MS Word and a couple of older packages, I find data merge cumbersome at best.

That said, when trying to figure out how to do it, I rely on the instructions from Publisher. However, they are wrong. The instructions at https://affinity.help/publisher/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Advanced/dataMerge.html?title=Data merge indicates to use the Document window to open a data source. After much looking around, I discovered the menu item in the Window menu. Managing fields and  such is an odd implementation.

You are looking in the Help for version 1 of Publisher, and trying to use Publisher 2.

You should look in the Publisher 2 Help instead.

Well that's even more curious. I got there from the Publisher 2 Help menu...

@NathanC: I recall seeing some reports that some of the application Help menu links in 2.0.0 went to the wrong location. I don't recall which applications, nor exactly which menu items went to the wrong place. But perhaps that's what Clayton experienced?
