Clayton King Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 having spent literally decades doing mailmerges in MS Word and a couple of older packages, I find data merge cumbersome at best. That said, when trying to figure out how to do it, I rely on the instructions from Publisher. However, they are wrong. The instructions at https://affinity.help/publisher/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Advanced/dataMerge.html?title=Data merge indicates to use the Document window to open a data source. After much looking around, I discovered the menu item in the Window menu. Managing fields and such is an odd implementation. Quote
walt.farrell Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 You are looking in the Help for version 1 of Publisher, and trying to use Publisher 2. You should look in the Publisher 2 Help instead. https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Advanced/dataMerge.html?title=Data merge Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Clayton King Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Windows 10. Just went to help (F1). Quote
Staff NathanC Posted February 23, 2023 Staff Posted February 23, 2023 Hey @Clayton King apologies on the late reply, If I launch the in app help menu on Publisher V2.0.4, this correctly loads up the V2 help guide and article on data merge when I search for it. Is it possible that you had V1 open at the time when you pressed F1? If not, can you still replicate this in V2.0.4? Quote
Clayton King Posted February 23, 2023 Author Posted February 23, 2023 No. I removed V1 from my machine when V2 came out. Quote
walt.farrell Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 @NathanC: I recall seeing some reports that some of the application Help menu links in 2.0.0 went to the wrong location. I don't recall which applications, nor exactly which menu items went to the wrong place. But perhaps that's what Clayton experienced?
