LCS Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Hi! Affinity designer (V2) is no longer launching on my Mac Air M1 .... used to work but about a week ago it stopped working. I thought it was because I was working on public wifi and had a VPN running, but now that I have time I tried it on my home network (with VPN turned off) and am still having a problem. Below I show what happens when I try to launch Affinity Designer - and I have to do a force quit to get rid of the window shown. I have already tried: * Restarting my computer (twice) * Reinstalling Affinity Designer (twice) My other Affinity products start fine, just this one is having a problem. (No problems on my Mac Mini) Quote
R C-R Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 If you open the root level Applications folder in Finder, is Affinity Photo 2.app listed there? MikeTO Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Try launching it and immediately pressing Ctrl - if you do this quickly enough a window will appear to give you a choice of startup options. Deselect everything except Clear User Defaults. See if that helps. v_kyr Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 However, the shown image shows the local host server (the loopback interface) of the MBA M1 itself. Yeah, I've experienced the same problem in a previous post. Amazon CloudFront (the forum CDN) will throw an error when trying to submit a post here that contains either the loopback IPv4 address in the text (127.0.0.1), or the word localhost (no spaces) in the text. You need to either use a screenshot, break the words apart, or insert a "Zero Width Joiner" in the middle of the words localhost or 127.0.0.1. v_kyr 1 Quote

LCS Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 I had to put this aside for a few days, but I tried everyone's suggestions and no luck so far .... As you can see from the screenshots below, the Affinity Designer 2 app is in the Application folder (along with the other Affinity apps - which all work fine) And MikeTo - I tried doing the ctrl- on startup and I only have the one option selected ... but that also didn't help. (see image ) Any other suggestions? Sounds like many people can't post to the thread? Maybe just say the "ip address" and not the actual number string" Thanks - As I am at a loss of what to try. (see image ) You didn't attach any screenshots but this is what it should look like if you hold down Ctrl immediately after clicking the app icon. Hold it down when clicking and you'll get a context menu, but if you're too slow you'll miss your chance. If you've already tried this with just Clear User Defaults checked, try it again with the first five options checked. LCS Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 Oops ...didn't post my screen shots. MikeTO - Many thanks ... after checking the first 5 ... and after repeatedly (about 10 times) clicking the "OK" to the "problem connecting" error message, Affinity Designer finally loaded. And after closing it and re-opening it - it now opens as expected. Honestly in the past I clicked the "ok" button multiple times, but not that many times. So something worked, not sure what. Thanks to MikeTO (and anyone else who attempted to answer) ... this plagued me for 2+ weeks! MikeTO 1 Quote
