Edition        Windows 10 Pro
Version        22H2
Installed on    ‎27/‎11/‎2022
OS build    19045.2486
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0

I’m using 2 monitors, one of which is a Wacom Cintiq22

steps to reproduce:
* copy an image from web browser. I use firefox.
* open Publisher
* create a document. uncheck "facing pages"
* using the "pages" panel, select the page in publisher where you wish for the image to be pasted
* paste

expected result:
* the image is pasted on the active page of the publisher document

actual result:
* The image ends up way outside and below the active page.
* Trying to reproduce this has given me inconsistent placement. It can be the equivalent of 1, 2, 6 or even 11 pages further down.
* If there are no pages after the active page, the image is pasted far below active page.
* copying and pasting an image from within the publisher document itself places the image on the active page, as expected.
* selecting the page by clicking of the page (not using the "pages" panel) seems to paste the image correctly sometimes.
* on page 1, the image is pasted correctly.
* Hardware acceleration ON and OFF produce these same results as far as I can tell.
* I can detect no correlation between placement of the pasted image and placement on the website it was copied from.

Thank you for looking into this.

I am able to replicate this is 2.0.4 but only with images copied from the internet. (right click -> copy image) The behaviour seems to occur randomly maybe 60 percent of the time? it’s hard to tell. I just got 10 pastings correctly placed in a row, followed by another 10 that were off. Then 3 that worked, followed by 4 that were off.
It seems to me it’s more frequent when the page is selected in the pages panel rather than by clicking on the page, but in both cases it happens.

Copying and pasting something already within the document works fine. I also tried pasting an image from a pptx file open in libreoffice and it was placed correctly.

I have the same problem. When I create a multi-page document, create any object (copy it) and navigate away from the original object/page so that it is no longer visible. After that the paste appear on the wrong place.

Confirmed Publisher 2.0.4 Win. I had this happen often with v1 as well, and really hoped it was fixed on v2. It happens repeatedly. I just tried it again by right-clicking someone's profile pic on this forum page, copy image, go to Publisher, paste, it's way off the page. I tried it on other pages including the last page, still way off. This is very annoying and I hope it's a simple fix.

Here are the exact steps to reproduce (Minimum Working Example):

  • Get an image in the clipboard
  • Open Publisher, new project, choose FHD 1080p (not sure this matters)
  • ctrl-v to paste, image shows up in center of page nicely.
  • ctrl-shift-PgDown to add a new page
  • ctrl-v to paste, image shows up off the page :(

Having this issue in 2.1.1 but only when using Paste Inside (ctrl+alt+v) and only when there are multiple pages. It seems like for ever additional page, it pushed the pasted object down 1 page further than it should. Is there a fix for this? I'm using Windows 10.

Which Internet browser are you copying the image from?  When I try this using Chrome, my pasted image stays on the active page in Publisher and doesn't end up off the page.  It may help if you can provide a screen recording showing the issue from start to finish, as there must be something else to this.
