InGameScientist
Before the new year I was using 1.10.5 without any issues. After a 2 week break, I tried opening Designer (and Photo) and they would not open. No dialog box shows up and I can see that the programs are there in the task list but nothing shows up. crash_handler.exe is also running. I read up on the .NET updates and that 1.10.6 would fix it, so I've uninstalled and reinstalled 1.10.6, but the same behavior persists. I've updated all of the drivers and made the Windows 10 updates that I can find but nothing seems to be working. I've attached the crash report for Designer (743kb file) as well as Photo (625kb file); if any one can help me troubleshoot through this, I would appreciate it very much! aabca9f7-2011-4eed-9b1f-e6cbddc8bd96.dmp 46c89b96-51d6-4674-ba28-1fcb830b888c.dmp

walt.farrell
Do you ever use multiple monitors, and if so are they all attached and working now? InGameScientist
Hi Walt, I did at one point have two monitors, but currently it is not hooked up and Nvidia/Windows only registers one monitor. Is it possible that Designer/Photo somehow remembers that there is a second monitor and is sending information there even though it isn't currently hooked up? Yes, if you were using it when you last used the apps. If you can't hook up that monitor again, try holding Ctrl while you start them. Release Ctrl when you see the Clear User Data dialog. (You may need to click on the app icon when it appears in the Windows Taskbar before releasing Ctrl.) Leave the first three items selected, and press Clear. InGameScientist
So I did hook up the monitor again to see if it was showing up there...but it isn't. When I click on the shortcuts for the apps, nothing shows up - not even a dialog, with or without Ctrl. I do see the processes in the Task Manager, but they are listed under background processes and not as active applications. In any case, the program just doesn't seem to want to start
walt.farrell
Did you also try the Ctrl run-up that I suggested? InGameScientist
I did - I get no popups even with Ctrl held down. There's a brief spinning indicator beside the cursor when I click on the shortcut with Ctrl pressed down, but that's all that happens. Did you make sure to kill the active instances via Task Manager first? (Sorry; maybe I should have mentioned that before.) InGameScientist
No worries, I did kill all active instances - from the task list as well as a fresh shutdown/restart cycle. Still no response from the Affinity programs

PaulEC
A long shot, but have you tried restarting your PC? (Not just turn off then back on again, but using the restart option.) InGameScientist
Hi Paul, I did - I did both the shutdown-restart cycle as well as just a restart. I thought maybe it had to do with language settings as I had my system set to Japanese, but it didn't seem to change anything after I changed it to English. Staff Callum Posted February 6, 2023 Staff Share Posted February 6, 2023 Hi InGameScientist, Welcome to the forums Please could you start Affinity and make sure it is selected so it is your active window and then try pressing +SHIFT+LEFT ARROW to see if this makes the window re-appear? If it doesn't please could you try +SHIFT+ RIGHT ARROW. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
