I'm really trying to like Publisher but the more I get into it, the more problems I start stumbling upon.

So I got the "missing dictionary" error when I tried to print my worksheets. Suddenly all of them had this error although I haven't had it before and everything worked fine.

So suddenly my German dictionary is missing. I go into the settings and it is set to German. I get into the Character pane, scroll down, it's set to German. So I use the dropdown, I click German again and suddenly the errors are gone. But not all of them. The tables have the error still. So I got frustrated and clicked several times onto the table and selected English. And then German again. And the error was gone.

Do I have to go through all my worksheets, select every text field, go into the Character pane, select an already selected German language? And after that I have to go through all the tables and do the above thing? Isn't there an easier way? Why do I have to select an option that already is selected?

This is where Paragraph and / or Character Styles are useful. You can set the language to German in there.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hi. This is a rare error and it means you have some test that is set to a language for which you don't have a dictionary. I've attached a couple of threads at the end of this post where this happened to others.

Please look in the Preflight panel and tell us exactly what the error is. It should be something like "Missing dictionary for language (xx-XX)". What do you have where I've written xx-XX?

The "xx" part is the language while the "XX" is the country, so en-CA is English as spoken in Canada. I suspect you have a nonsensical combination such as en-DE, English as spoken in Germany.

In the second thread I attached, a Serif employee stated that you can simply re-apply the desired language in the Character panel - you don't have to switch from German to English to German, just reselect German.

Another option might be to use Find & Replace to change all of your text at once. For the Find field, enter [\s\S]* and then choose Regular Expression from the Gear menu. For the Replace field, leave it blank and choose Format > Spelling > German. Then find and replace and it should all be set to German properly.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. This made me crazy. Yes, it was de-AT, which means Austrian German... The Find&Replace worked well. I had so many small tables I'm using as lines/text boxes for the students to write in and I could not select and re-apply German for all at once but had to select every single one of them. 25 per page x 8 pages. :D I'm so happy now. Thanks!

Edit: I still have the problem every time I add a standard table to my projects. I can't find a way to change that. I go to the table tool, add, and I get the error. I have to edit the table after that to German. I tried it on new projects, too. No success.

Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.

Can you please draw a new table, then select an empty cell with your cursor. Now, use CTRL / CMD + A to select all cells (you may need to use the shortcut twice due to a know cell selection bug).

With all cells selected, navigate to Edit > Defaults > Factory Reset.

Now try drawing a new table, hopefully you should find this missing language is no longer used :)
