Hi,

Just wondering, Does any Affinity product (Photo, Publisher, Designer) save the GPS mapping locations of a photo?

If so, how do I remove that data?

Note: The Metadata Panel is only available in Photo and it only relates to the opened image (if it has any metadata), not placed images.

Does that mean I have to replace images in publisher if I didn't remove the metadata?

I wondered that myself when I was writing my earlier post.

I don’t know if Publisher strips the metadata out of a placed image, or an image in a Picture Frame, when the document is exported.

I’m pretty sure that the metadata will be stripped out of a rasterised image.
It’s not the same image and the metadata will (usually) be incorrect by that stage anyway, but I’m not sure about non-rasterised images.

One of the experts in this area will know though.

If you want to strip all metadata, AP v1, and I presume v2, comes with a macro do do so. I find it handy as I always have Macro Library open and do not need to open metadata. I made one for GPS as well, very handy.

I confirm strip metadata macro is still there on Affinity Photo v2.0.3.

Anyone knows if it is possible to assign a shortcut to a macro ?

Thanks.

I do not believe there is a menu option so you would not be able to assign a keyboard shortcut. Also, I do not believe you can assign a keyboard shortcut to a macro (would be nice). I have a few macros I use often, so I just leave my Macros Library open (v1: VIEW-STUDIO-LIBRARY or v2: WIINDOW-LIBRARY).

For convenience, here are macros to clear all Metadata and one for just GPS.

For me, both macros erase it all : "all exif" and "gps only".

So I guess "gps only" doesn't work on v2 ?

If I look at them, they both lead to :

I just redid them and tested them but I am seeing something weird in v2. If I run the included MACRO to strip metadata, it seems to do so. If instead I select the Strip All Metadata from the Metadata window, it does not actually clear all metadata and leaves the <dc:creator> content in particular including creators name and copyright (Not all cameras use this):

Here are the redone macros. I have included the Serif Macro that actually seems to clear all metadata. My tests seem to show they remove the GPS info, but leave some <dc:creator> info.
