Yes, this is normal, as the raw data does not contain any information usable for plugins. In Affinity Photo, the adjustments are displayed in real time without changing the RAW data. You have to rasterize the file before you can apply plugins to it.

@Komatös either you misunderstand my request or I misunderstand your reply. I want Affinity Photo to be compatible, ie able to work with the Boris FX Optics plugin. Currently Affinity does not, and just crashes.
