mBIT Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Hi, if you Select a Section of an Texture and try to fill this with another Texture it fills first ... after scalling i looks very bad ! The Texture is in a Place and to the borders it does not fill correct - no repeat of the Texture! Someone any idea ? Quote

What are those tools settings in its context menu just above the workspace? firstdefence Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 You can use the selection as a mask. Deselect and selections you currently have active In Affinity Photo drag in the pattern you want to apply or place it whichever method you prefer. Make sure the X, Y, W and H are all integer values. Make sure the pattern layer is selected and choose Layer > New pattern layer from selection The document will fill with the pattern Temporarily turn the new pattern layer off so you can see your design layer and make sure it's selected and make a selection Turn the New Pattern layer back on and make sure it's selected in the layers panel On the layers panel click the mask icon at the bottom and select Mask, this will mask the layer layer to the selection Deselect the selection by pressing Ctrl + D or Cmd + D on Mac To edit the New pattern layer, i.e. scale it up or down or reposition it, you will need to remove the mask by dragging it above the New pattern layer, once you have done that you can drag the mask back onto the new pattern layers icon to re-apply the mask. I sincerely hope there is an easier way to do this in Affinity Photo. mBIT 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... mBIT Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Well ... sounds nice but is not what really works ... in my ancient Photo Impact 12 I go here and take a seamless texture copy it to the clipboard and go to fill with clipboard ... it fills the corresponding area with the texture repeatedly ... Here it would be cool if I can already scale and rotate that (which is really cool) ... if instead of 1x the texture it seamlessly pastes it into the area ... unfortunately this does not work as soon as the BITMAP is reduced the edges come and that with textures with 4096x4096 pixel in an area that is smaller ... But thanks for the help, I'll continue in Photo Impact ... I have bought affinity 1 and new also 2 but for something like this it is not suitable ... or much too complicated ... Quote
firstdefence Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Slightly easier way, by creating curves and filling the curves, you draw a curve using the pen tool and use the gradient fill tool to fill the curve with a bitmap texture, it will scale and rotate as you want, or if you have the parts as vectors simply export them from where you created them and fill, or use a third-party app to vectorise the graphic. screenshot_2834.svg StuartRc 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... StuartRc Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 In Designer you can use a vector pattern contained within the assets panel. Simply drag the object onto the Fill swatch of a vector shape. It can be seamless and scaled. I use this a lot now! really useful for adding quick textures to images firstdefence 1 Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.6.0 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.6.2.3187 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.5371+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-1
