Assets Dissapeared

Recommended Posts

My assets panel froze while adding a new one, crashed, and now everything is gone. It seems there are older threads on this, but none with an actual solution. Surely these were backed up somewhere because otherwise how was the software opening them each time. My most recent back up via export is several changes ago so I would prefer to just get back the assets I had when it crashed. Any way to get them back in the software.

Welcome to the forums @Kristina3150

If the assets came with the software then you can get them back by holding Ctrl down when you launch the software and choosing “Reset Assets”.

If the assets were added to the software via the “My Account” functionality then you can get them back via that same functionality.

If the assets were imported into the software (you downloaded them from somewhere) then you can get them back by re-importing them.

If you created the assets yourself and you exported them at some point then you can re-import them from the exported file.

If your backup system (if you have one) took a backup of the application then you should be able to restore the assets.propcol file from the backup (there are threads in the forums telling you how to do this).

If you created the assets yourself, and you didn’t export them or take a backup of the relevant assets.propcol file, then you can’t get them back unfortunately.

Also, if you need to do a restore of assets.propcol from your backup system, the location is dependent both on which OS you use, which Store you installed from, which application you use, and whether you're using V1 or V2. So if you tell us that we can perhaps provide some further guidance. But Garry has covered the basic situations.
