Eric Stoltz
I applied old style to figures for body text. Everything looks good. Created new footnote style based on body copy with old style figures. Everything looked good. Entered a new footnote. Resulted in gibberish text as shown. Undid old style selection from new footnote style. Gibberish text remains, even when I past from plain text editor. How do I get readable text back? MikeTO
Hi Eric, when I open your document, footnote 54 is normal readable text set in Minion Pro Regular with Old Style figures. I'm not seeing any gibberish for this footnote so am I missing a step? Eric Stoltz
Hmm. Maybe I sent a copy before it was saved. Here it is again! Ancestors.afpub
MikeTO
Hi Eric. You'll want to change the style: Change Typography > All Alternates from Alternate 1 to Default Change Typography > Capitals from Small Caps to Normal Cheers Quote Download a free manual for Publisher 2.3 from this forum - expanded 260-page PDF Affinity 2.3.1 for macOS Sonoma 14.3, MacBook Pro 14" (M1 Pro)
Eric Stoltz
Okay, I changed capitals to normal, no change. I went to alternates and do not see the setting you reference. 😟

Instead of editing the style, just select the text in that footnote and turn off Alter 1 shown here in Typograph as well as Small Caps.
