tedblew Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) In Publisher, I want to draw a no-fill box around selected text within a text frame. How can I create a character/paragraph style to do that? Thank you! Edited January 15, 2023 by tedblew Quote

As far as I know, you cannot do that with Character Text Styles. You can do it with Paragraph Text Styles, if you want to box an entire paragraph. But not for selected characters. How can I create a character style to do that? As Walt pointed out we cannot do this with a Character Style. We can fudge with a Rectangle. Draw the rectangle (with no fill and the appropriate border) over the word(s) you need highlighted. Now with the Rectangle selected Pin it to the text. Use the Context toolbar's Pin symbol. Or Use the Pinning panel, Window > Text > Pinning and use the float with Text button. Here is the text with the rectangle drawn over top of it. Here is the Pinning button Here is the Pin, I have located it next to the word I wanted highlighted. Use the Layers panel to select the Rectangle and the little Pin will show up. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
