No ”Recently Opened Objects“ in dock bar

Recommended Posts

macOS Monterey version 12.6.2

Affinity General License version 2.0.3

This seems to affect all three apps, but I miss it most for APub: Right-clicking on either of the three app icons in the dock bar doesn't show any ”Recently used objects“, although inside the programs (ATTOW, AD and APub), there are such objects to choose from in the ”Recently used files“ tab of the project start panel.

I reallly miss this functionality when working with two or three documents and want to open one with a simple mouse click.

This is all I see in v2 after a right click on the Dock icon before launching an Affinity app in v2.
And clicking 'Show Recents' just brings up a message saying ‘No Available Windows’.

@laurent32 I should clarify - the bug is that the Affinity v2 app icons in the dock aren't showing recent items when the apps are closed. They show recent items when the apps are open, and even then only recent items from that session.

Not sure if anyone is working on this. I sure hope so. If so I have some observations. I think the info about recent documents that the dock shows are stored in this file:

~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.sharedfilelist/com.apple.LSSharedFileList.ApplicationRecentDocuments/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2.sfl2

Shortly after I close Designer entries in this file get deleted. I ran into this because I think LaunchBar is using the same information to display recent files when you select an app and press space.

Strange that isn't still fixed. Even with 2.1.

Speaking of 2.1 - how do I update? I can't find any item in the setting to look for new updates and by starting affinity designer an automatic udapte won't happen.

Edit: Just in the moment I wrote the lines above I got the Affinity Update 2.1 Mail. More Infos how to update: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/learn/how-do-i-install-affinity-updates/

With Affinity 2.1.1 and macOS Ventura 13.5. it's fixed!

Recently Opened Objects are back in dock bar!

As Andreas says, it is still broken on macOS 13.4.1. So it maybe is an OS issue? Or probably the combination of app and OS. Because for me Affinity Designer is the only app that does not show recent items properly.

Yes, I guess the macOS 13.5 did fix it.
