Trackpad Zooming

Recommended Posts

When using the updated version of Affinity, it is unreliable to use the trackpad feature of zooming in and out via pinching the fingers on the trackpad. It will stop working completely and can only be fixed by opening up the System Settings and toggling the trackpad Scroll & Zoom "Zoom in or out" button off on and on and then closing out and going back over to Affinity again.

This issue needs to be resolved.

Hi Maddy and welcome to the forum.

Which version of macOS are you using?

I sometimes have a crash with pinch to zoom the first time I use it after opening a document. If it doesn't crash the first time I zoom in with the trackpad, it will be fine until I close the document and open it or another and then I again run the risk. I've gotten into the habit of pinching to zoom immediately after opening to get that hurdle out of the way. Is this the issue your'e having or is it a different issue?

Here's a related thread but the discussion of the issue starts part way down.

The issue "Zooming in/out on a document with Live Perspective can intermittently cause a crash on (M1/M2) MacBooks" (REF: AFD-6345) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1790".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
