Sun2Son
Hello, I'm formating a non-fiction book. I've set up a number of Text Styles - including for Indented paragraphs and for First paragraphs (no indent). For some reason - when I apply these Text Style(s) to the text I'm formatting I end up with the LAST Sentence or every paragraph underlined. NOTE: I've tried using the Help Pages's SEARCH several times with zero results: One example 'underlining' Would Appreciate some guidance. walt.farrell
It would be good to have some screenshots showing this, but it is complex enough to diagnose such problems that it would be even better if you'd create a sample .afpub file, with those text styles but some sample text, that recreates the problem. You can then upload that .afpub file for us to look at. However, while writing that I thought of one setting that might do that: you might have a Decoration set in the Paragraph settings of the Text Style. That would not underline the last sentence, though. It would only underline the last physical line of the paragraph. Sun2Son
Hello Again Walt, See the screenshot below. I 'looked' under Decorations earlier - changed it to NONE (underlines) when editing Style - that did not seem to do anything (and I hope is doesn't mean I won't ABLE to add an underline anywhere). What I DID do - that MAY have solved the problem was to change the Decorations 'Enabled' setting to UN-Ticked. At the moment the last lines are no longer underlained. Personally - If you look at the screen shot - it does not 'look' (to me) as if ANY decoration has been set up - so that is confusing to me (doesn't take much). PS: Kinda wish that Enabled 'icon' [the dash] was a CHECKMARK when enabled and blank when it wasn't). APPRECIATE YOUR TIMELY RESPONSE Walt! RM f/g
Be sure to also check Decorations section in the Paragraph panel (the one outside the Text Styles panel). walt.farrell
Your screenshot shows the "line under" decoration enabled. Otherwise it would appear gray as the other 4 boxes do. I think that Enabled box has 3 states, but I would have to experiment to explain what they mean. The "dash" is not enabled it is Inherited meaning that whatever the setting is on the Style which this Paragraph Style is based on will be used. Uncheck it an the line will most likely go away. Or ... Change the Style which this Paragraph Style is based on to not have any decorations. walt.farrell 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.
