MCDZ
hello all. new to affintiy and in love. i start by using the selection brush to make a selection. after refining and adjusting, i create a mask layer. then after i apply a filter, i may notice that the mask needs some adjusting. is there a way to revert back to the mask selection and continue to manually edit the mask via the selection brush? i know that when I select the mask layer theres an "edit option" but editing the mask that way is not practical. i need the layers to be visible while editing the mask selection. any idea how to go about this? thanks! Staff MEB Posted February 7, 2016 Staff Share Posted February 7, 2016 Hi MCDZ, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Right-click on the mask in the Layers panel and select Refine Mask... (or Edit Mask if you want to edit in greyscale "mode"). MCDZ
thanks meb, but refining the mask isn't exactly what i'm after. i want to actually edit the selection. say for example, when making the selection, i kissed a spot. refining the selection will not correct this. i have to actually edit the selection. is this possible for to do? Staff MEB Posted February 7, 2016 Staff Share Posted February 7, 2016 If you select the mask in the layers panel you can paint with the Paint Brush Tool (and other brush tools) using black and white (press X to switch between the two). If you ⌥ (option/alt) click the mask layer's thumbnail you can switch to grayscale mode to edit it. If you ⌘ (cmd) click the mask layer's thumbnail you can load the pixel selection from the mask. Hope this helps. barninga and R C-R 2 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference | Call for Camera Images
