Color balance in Affinity Publisher 2.0.3 placed image way off

Recommended Posts

The color balance of a file I place on my book cover never changes. I have changed it in Photoshop and Pixelmator numerous times to be cooler, yet Affinity Publisher never reflects the changes. Can anyone tell me why? I have attached a screenshot of the Affinity Publisher cover (top) and the original image (bottom).

Just to be sure. The cover image is linked or embedded? If embedded and you replace it not manually, you will never see a change.

Have you compared the ICC profiles in Publisher and Photoshop?

My CMYK profiles are both the same:

Affinity Publisher
U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

Photoshop
U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

RGB profiles are both the same:
sRGB IEC61966-2.1

Thanks for the tip. It was linked, so that partly solved the problem. I now see the image actually changed, but the variance remains as dramatic as the attached screenshot shows.

What is your working profile and do you have "Preferences > Color > Convert to working profile" checked?

I don't know what my working profile is, but I did check “Convert to working profile” and “Warn” and it made no difference.

Best would be uploading the .afpub file and the image here (if possible), otherwise it is all guesswork.

You can modify/check your working profile everytime you create a new document under "File > New > Color".

It shows what I mentioned earlier: CMYK/8, U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2.

Anyway, this particular image is the only one giving me issues, so it may well have something to do with the file’s unique color balance that is tripping up AP. I have elected to color-adjust it and will search for another image that is less troublesome.
