Affinity Photo 2 Mac won't open - 'there is a problem connecting to the server "XXX"

Recommended Posts

Hi Affinity users

The last time I used Affinity Photo 2 was at home, I was editing pictures on my NAS. I didn't quit Affinity or close the images when I finished. I'm now far from home - and the NAS - but every time I try to start Photo 2 I get beach balling and a system dialogue box comes up ' There was a problem connecting to the server "(name of home NAS)". I've tried deleting user prefs in user library and it starts as far as a splash screen thanking me for buying Photo 2 and asking if I want to import user content from the previous installation  but then whichever option I chose - I've tried it twice - I'm back on beach balling and the system dialogue reappears.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Justin

It's a known logged problem

You can try some of the tips in this thread. Let us know which (if any) works for you, to assist others with this issue

If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I have the same problem. I am far away from the server and can now not use Affinity Photo.

This makes it pretty useless for business.

When will this bug be fixed in a new software upgrade?

This has been fixed in the latest 2.1.0.1730 beta build. More information can be found here:

The issue "App attempts to reconnect to disconnected SMB share on launch" (REF: AFB-7024) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1728".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
