The file type is not supported

Recommended Posts

I changed computers midway editing, both are windows 10 /11. When I'm opening the file that worked just fine on the previous computer fails to open on this one, the program tries to load it for ages and then gives a "The file type is not supported" -message. It's an .afpub -file

So far I've tried

-opening it by dragging it to program window, opening it from File-> open and opening it from the folder by choosing Open in a program

- changing the RAM-usage / giving the program more ram-space

- uninstalling and re-installing the affinity programs

-tried to open it in affinity photo 2

-upgrading to windows 11

-tried to open it from the usb-stick and downloaded it from the cloud as well, no success

-downloading publisher v2 beta

-tried it on another computer (not the one i initially used)

Not possible to open it on the computer I started with, as I had to take it back to the repair shop to get my "real", own computer back.

Do I have to accept that the file might be corrupted, or is there any more steps I could try?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

First, check what release of Publisher 2 you have. Some problems in 2.0.0 were fixed in 2.0.3.

Hi, thanks!

I initially was using 2.0.0, but have 2.0.3 on the computer that I'm using now.

That's unfortunate. It probably means that yes, your file is corrupt.

If you can upload it here one of the users, or someone from Serif, can see if it's recoverable.
