ArtBoy
Looking to follow along with a tutorial AD uploaded. What are some ways I can evenly and precisely place all the ellipses (left)? Would this be with the use of the snapping tool or a different tool? Perhaps done using a method? I start off by creating the biggest circle> small circle left> ctrl+shift, drag 2nd small circle to right. My troubles are getting the top and lower ovals snapped and precisely touching both left and right circle. How would you do the process from start to finish? Thank you! laurent32
Here is what I might do starting with 2 ellipses… Then I would join them… Then I would convert 2 points… And I would play with them to get the guitar I want… Rough example done very quickly… ArtBoy 1 Quote MacBook Pro 16 pouces (3456 × 2234), 2021 / Apple M1 Pro / 16 Go / macOS Ventura Version 13.4.1 (22F82) + 31,5 pouces (2560 × 1440) + 27 pouces (1080 × 1920) + iPad (8th generation) / iPadOS 17.2 + Apple Pencil + … Macmini6,2 Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16 Go / macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 (19H2026) MacBookAir6,2 Intel Core i5 double cœur 4 Go / macOS Big Sur version 11.7.7 (20G1345) Licence Universelle Affinity V2 updated to 2.3.

R C-R
FWIW, if you watch the tutorial, it does not explain how the various ellipses are positioned, & it does not seem to be using symbols, so I do not think anybody has fully answered the OP's question, that being, "What are some ways I can evenly and precisely place all the ellipses (left)?" I would use the Arrange functionality along with grouping, Most of this is done with Align to centre on the vertical axis, just the two outer left and right ones would be centred horizontally then grouped and then that group centred vertically.A lot of it would be done by eye. Snapping would be of minimal utility with ellipses. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear. laurent32
For the guitar, you could also just deal with half of it and then complete it using 100% symmetrical tools… ArtBoy 1 Quote MacBook Pro 16 pouces (3456 × 2234), 2021 / Apple M1 Pro / 16 Go / macOS Ventura Version 13.4.1 (22F82) + 31,5 pouces (2560 × 1440) + 27 pouces (1080 × 1920) + iPad (8th generation) / iPadOS 17.2 + Apple Pencil + … Macmini6,2 Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16 Go / macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 (19H2026) MacBookAir6,2 Intel Core i5 double cœur 4 Go / macOS Big Sur version 11.7.7 (20G1345) Licence Universelle Affinity V2 updated to 2.3.

ArtBoy
Thanks to everyone that has replied, really appreciate it! This is the closes that I've gotten to it. It was fairly simple. Through your advice and trial and error I primarily used the Align Tool - Space Horizontally while having the big main circle and two smaller left and right circles selected. That took care of the symmetry. The problem now is that its not closed off in the four small triangle-ish corners where I have an arrow pointed at. So when using the shape builder tool as the last step, well I end up with the shape at the bottom. v_kyr

Because I wondered the same thing as the OP when I saw the tutorial & I still do not know how to achieve that kind of perfect symmetry using just a bunch of ellipses & a few other shapes. I thought that would be obvious enough that I would not specifically have to mention it. I guess I was wrong about that.
