My new camera is not supported, Sony ILCE-7RM5A (A7RVA)

They can't tell you yet, since it highly depends on the underlayed libraw support. - Further APh has then (when libraw supports it) to be updated too, in order to include that newer libraw version, which then in turn supports that Sony cam!

Actually neither Serif's RAW engine, nor Apple's RAW engine do support the Sony ILCE-7RM5A ...

Lightroom Classic can view the lossless compressed raw files from my Sony A7r5 without a problem.  I've just installed the latest Affinity Photo 2 Beta hoping to see this supported.  But no, it's still refusing to open them.  Any chance of an update on when I'll be able to process these files with Affinity Photo 2?

Read what I've wrote above, aka as far as LibRaw does support it, APh relies for camera RAW file processing entirely on LibRaw (...and/or alternatively on Apple's RAW engine for APh under MacOS). - So if you monitor the LibRaw website you will get an ~idea if and when certain cameras are supported by that lib. Add to that the time it takes, until a new APh version (or beta version) ships with that bundled lib then!
