I miss some fonts which I used in Publisher 1 and are not anymore in publisher 2.

For instance webdings and wingdings which I can find in windows but I cannot use them in publisher 2 and they are not shown

in an older document, created with pubklisher 1.

Welcome to the forums @ClausP

Those two fonts are available to me in Publisher V2 (and V1) on Windows, see attached screen-grab.

Can you upload a screenshot showing us what you see when you scroll down the font list to where they should be? (Any font list within Publisher will do, as long as we can see where they should be.)

Welcome to the forums Claus,

The fonts that are on your machine are the fonts that are available to Publisher (they are available to all three of the Affinity applications). If you have fonts from some cloud service or perhaps a server then they would need to be activated before starting any of the Affinity applications in order for them to be used by the Affinity applications.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks for the screen-grabs.

It seems pretty clear to me that the fonts are on your machine and that at least one other application can use them (unless I am missing some important information).

One of the normal reasons for why a font cannot be used by the Affinity applications is that they are not ‘constructed’ in a way that the applications can use them but I don’t think that will be true of Wingdings or Webdings unless you have replaced them with ‘badly-constructed’ versions. (By ‘badly-constructed’ I mean that the font file was created in such a way that it doesn’t conform with certain typographic standards – usually only for ‘single-use’/‘fancy’ fonts.)

Sometimes people find that forcing Windows to recreate its font cache helps with problems like this (instructions for this are available on the web).

There were problems with some fonts – such as Wingdings – a long time ago but I thought they had been sorted way back when.

I don’t have an answer to the problem as yet but one of the font experts may be able to supply a solution much more quickly than I can.

P.S. Is there some reason why you ‘wrapped’ the screen-grabs in PDFs? The forums can handle most image files directly without a ‘wrapper’.

Thanks, I will try to recreate the cache.

What do You mean with 'wrapping' the files? And what do You mean with 'directly'?

I use a tool named 'hardcopy' and can choose wether ro create JPGs or PDFs,  and PDF have been the best option in support cases

until now.

I just reinstalled publisher I and it shows wingdings in the document!!

May that be a problem of how I installed publisher II? I renamed the installation-file to '.zip' and copied it

into a 'normal' folder and not into the windows-app-folder??

That unsupported method can cause a number of problems.

Yes: I installed the 'windows-app-way' and everything with fonts is ok!

These other problems with starting affinity-apps from other applications I will give a try.
