Hello,
first, all the best for the new year to all.

If footnotes go about multiple rows, the indent isn't correct...

How can I get the footnotes to look like that

instead of this:

I tried it via tab, but no success

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

The basic approach, I think, would be to put the cursor into the footnote text, then

  1. adjust the Left Indent and First-Line Indent in the Paragraph panel. Then
  2. create a new Paragraph Text Style with those settings. Then
  3. specify use of that Paragraph Text Style Note Body Style field in the Notes panel.

Here's an example of step 1:

Note that if you're going to have more than 9 footnotes on a page, you might want to add a tab after the Number field in the Notes panel, and also adjust the tab stops of the paragraph before creating the new Paragraph Text Style.

I'm trying to do the same thing, and I came up with the same solution, although it doesn't work if there are more than 9 footnotes, as once it gets to double-digits, the spacing is wrong. There should be a more accurate way to do this, as this is very common footnote formatting.

You should be able to adjust the spacing to account for that, I think. Though perhaps you would also want to set the numbers to right-aligned.

I'm not sure, as if you get the spacing correct for one digit, it is wrong for two digits, and visa versa. I think for it to work you'd need to be able to set the text spacing separately from the number spacing.
