Things missing from IDML import/export

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I believe that a list of compatibility could be useful, to understand what is preserved and what is lost when importing/exporting IDML files to/from Publisher. I will therefore maintain a list, that you can enrich and discuss below. I'll add the features as long as they are confirmed by the fellow forum members.

Ça va sans dire that this is intended as a feature request to add the missing features.

Please, don't use this thread to discuss about workarounds. Just report about missing or added import/export features.

Soft edges/feather.
Needs quite a few workarounds, especially Directional Feather.

For now, it would be quite enough if they add footnote/endnote import in Publisher.

Is there an export to IDML now?

Nope.

PDF.
Works also via copy and paste from Affinity to InDesign.
To make PDF editable in InDesign, you need a 3rd party plugin that alone costs as much as two Affinity Universal Licenses:P

@loukash and @Ghost Rider, thank you for your contributions. But may I ask you (and anyone else) to discuss of problems and solutions in one of the other existing threads? I would like this one to remain entirely devoted to the missing (and added) import/export features, so that they can be found as easily as possible.
