Please add a film strip to Photo's Develop persona

For me one of the key missing features to help me replace Lightroom would be a filmstrip feature. Basically, I would want to select an bunch of photos, load them into the Develop persona to give me a side-by-side comparison of the Photo's that I have edited. Ideally, it would allow for adding ratings to photos so I can filter them by quality. And it would also be nice to add labels to photos to indicate whether or not they were fully developed or marked to be developed/ discarded.

This would then also allow me to copy paste all (or a selection of) the Develop parameters and paste them to a selected photos as an easy means to batch process them (with immediate visual feedback on the result).

@Pšenda a DAM (Adobe Bridge equivalent) would be nice too. But you can get Bridge for free to basically browse your files (it's a RAW file explorer with metadata management capabilities for those unfamiliar). But, for actual develop work, I would be okay with loading in a folder and then use the filmstrip to do the digital asset management work, such as tagging, labelling copy pasting develop settings, etc. In my opinion it is filmstrip first, DAM second priority wise.

I like to make people go mad with this hint, so I'll reiterate it.

If you are on a Mac, browse you photos in Apple Photos. Select the ones to modify. Show the edit tools. Thumbnails of the selected images will be in the lower strip, the image in edit will be in the main area.

Click the Extensions icon in the top-right corner, and choose the Affinity Develop tool. Without leaving Photos, you will be able to see the before and after image in a split window, as you can in Affinity Photo.

Edit, save, check the results while still in Photos.

If you prefer to launch Affinity Photo, ignore the above, and just right-click on the selected photos, and choose to edit them in the external app.

A filmstrip view in the Develop persona would not make any sense given the architecture of the program.

The Develop persona is basically a focused editor for a single layer of a specific document.

If you were to present a filmstrip view in that persona it would suggest the equivalent of swapping the image associated with that layer, while the settings for the image are part of that layer (at best), so there would be no mechanism for keeping the settings with the image they were applied to.  There would be no practical value in this.

What you are looking for is a completely different type of program than what Affinity Photo was designed to be.

Not necessarily, maybe it should be a new persona with close resemblance to the develop persona. But the way I see it is that the difference is when you decide to open the RAW files. You should start with a blank file and can choose whether or not the developed photo's should be added to the document as layers. Basically, you have to go to file > new and pick the filmstrip option. The same should happen automatically in the background when you decide to open multiple raw files.

There may be some discussion about how to implement this best. And that's okay.
