lock layer

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Locking a layer does exactly what it is designed to do in the Affinity applications. It prevents selecting the layer by clicking on it in the workspace. And it prevents transforming the later by manipulating it in the workspace.

Many users wish it did other things, especially based on experiences with other applications, but it doesn't.

The locked layer can be edited and deleted.

The fellows at Affinity don't know what a lock is supposed to do.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I have an open image. It's blocked. In the workspace I can, for example, draw on it, blur it, etc. So what is the blocking for?

To prevent you from moving it or resizing it.

To use an analogy it would be if you locked your house and this prevented people from adding a second storey or moving the house across the street. But other people could steal all your stuff. The insurance company would not pay for the theft because you locked it up before leaving.

Okay. I have to say that my English is not very good. I get what you're saying, I think, and the bottom line is that blocking is useless. With my layer locked I can do whatever I want with it. Well, I'll try not to make mistakes. The "undo" command works perfectly. Thanks for everything.

Locking is only about 90% useless.
