GuyMiklos
I suppose this isn't really a bug. But it results in all the Character Text Styles that are based on a Group being sorted into the Paragraph style section. Perhaps there is a way to define a Group that is only for Character Text Styles, that would sort into the Character section. I couldn't work out how. The Hierarchical view becomes quite messy as a result, and half the character text styles are in the section below and half of them are in the Paragragh section. MikeTO
Hi Guy, this is by design. When you use Show Hierarchical, the Text Styles panel isn't sorted by paragraph and then character style but by type and then within each type by paragraph and character style. You can also base paragraph styles on character styles so paragraph styles can appear under a character style. Don't use Hierarchical if you don't want this. The sort order is: Base Groups that aren't based on Base Paragraph styles that aren't based on Base Character styles that aren't based on Base Within each of these are Group, Paragraph, and Character Styles based on that style. I think this is the only logical way that hierarchical styles can be shown given that you can based anything on anything else. GuyMiklos
Thank you Mike. I'll get my head round this with your helpful explanation. I do prefer the hierarchical structure in the panel because it helps remind me of the style structure I've built up. If I need text styles in alphabetical order, they are easily found sorted that way in the two drop down lists in the Frame Text tool's context tool bar. This is great that there are two ways to access text styles for application to a text. Quote MacBook Pro, Retina, mid-2015, macOS Monteray, RAM: 16 GB, CPU Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 2,8 GHz.
