New user fill and subtract issues

Recommended Posts

Good day.

I bought the affinity apps about 2 years ago and did not need to use it until now.

to design stuff I mostly use Moi3d and Vcarve pro.

Today I used the logo attached, traced it and convert to svg.

I wasted a few hours trying to fill in without the eyes and the try to subtract it.

now to find out I should be using the pixel persona to flood fill.

but still cannot fill it without filling the eyes much less to subtract the eyes later.

I tried to follow this affinity video https://youtu.be/nP4T-Qr2WeQ but when I got at 2 min I could not replicate this.

What would be the correct way or steps to get this done?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum @Dimdam

The eye curve is open, you need to select the node tool and from the node tools context menu choose close curve, Move the eye curve above the face curve and from there you should be able to use geometry subtract to subtract the eye from the main shape and then you should be able to fill the shape/curve.

Hopefully you should end up with something like this

I've saved this file with history so you can look at the history panel and see what I did.
