Old Bruce Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 It appears that you are dragging your Symbol into a placed copy of the Symbol. So you would have a symbol inside a symbol inside a symbol inside a symbol inside a .... to infinity and beyond. This is because you have the Rectangle selected before you start to drag the symbol. at about 1:40 in your video. Old Bruce Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 I am not going to try and nest a symbol inside of itself. That is something I believe will cause a crash. An infinite number of symbols is the result. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. Staff Gabe Posted January 19, 2023 Staff Posted January 19, 2023 Sorry for the delayed reply. You should not be able to place a symbol inside itself. Issue logged. Quote

The problem is that you still can, e.g. if you group a symbol instance with itself and move the group inside, or – more realistically – if the instance is already part of another group.
