augustya Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I wanted to know just like in PixelMator Photo they have come out with a Functionality of Selective Texture & Clarity where you can make changes to the Shadows, HIghlights and Mid-Tones of the main subject of a photo, the same way How can I only have the Highlights and Shadows of only the face of a subject in Affinity Photo ? And not the entire image globally ? is this Possible in Affinity Photo ? Quote
firstdefence Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Which version of Affinity Photo are you using, V1 or V2? You could make luminosity masks and make them selective. In V2 In V1 you would need to manually make the luminosity masks. So Luminosity Masks are only available in Version 1 ? Quote

Yes, the Live Luminosity Masks are only in Version 2, you also have hue masks, compound masks and band-pass masks. https://affinity.help/photo2/English.lproj/pages/LiveMasks/liveLayerMasks.html Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... h_d Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 If you're also asking about automatic subject detection, which I believe is available in Pixelmator Pro (not sure about Pixelmator Photo, the iOS app), then as far as I'm aware there's no equivalent in Affinity Photo. augustya 1 Quote Affinity Photo 2.6.3, Affinity Designer 2.6.3 Affinity Publisher 2.6.3, Mac OSX 15.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel.

Yes I am talking exactly about this feature. You are correct. Quote

You can use the manual selection tools in Affinity Photo 1 or 2 (for example the Selection Brush tool) and then apply adjustments to the selection. The selection automatically becomes a mask when you apply the adjustment. Quote Affinity Photo 2.6.3, Affinity Designer 2.6.3 Affinity Publisher 2.6.3, Mac OSX 15.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel.

I was thinking on the same lines, maybe make a selection of the area and apply adjustments, So to change Shadows and Highlights is Blend Range a perfect way or is there any other way ? Quote
h_d Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 You could try the Shadows and Highlights adjustment... But it's a bit of a blunt instrument - blend ranges are probably more subtle.
