Guido Sardella
I am trying to open some simple Designer 1 files I made last year with Designer 2.0.3, all the night has passed ( 8 hours) and it has not opened them. I tried to open them with Photo 2, they opened in less than a second, then I copied all the items on the page and tried to past in a empty page in Designer, and again the pasting has not happened after 20 minutes. It's just text, some basic shapes and low res pictures. One of the files giving me this problem is attached down here. Orme.afdesign
Nowave
Hello, no problem here to open your file in Designer 2.0.3. Just a linked file which I have outlined in red
Guido Sardella
I still am not able to open it. I see you open it but the title is not how it should appear (on a single line). Same for the writing on the left, that disappear behind the map. But it could be just a font that is replaced. I tried to copy and past from Photo to Designer every item separately, and the pieces that creates the problem are the two photographic pictures. If I rasterize them before copying there is no problem to paste them in Designer. If I don't rasterize them, it appears the coloured spinning wheel of death, and I have to kill and restart the application.

Instead of copying the content, have you tried to modify in designer from affinity photo (file/modify with designer)?

Nowave
And if you open a new file in designer and place the two images (file/place), does it work?
carl123
I can also open the document in 2.0.3 but without the linked file So, try opening this one (below) where I have removed the linked file to see if that is the problem Orme-modified.afdesign Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. No, it's doesn't, it freeze, unless first I right click on them and rasterise them. Then they are placed without any fuss.
Guido Sardella
Cool. It does open instantly. So, the broken link freeze the opening, while the unrasterised pictures freeze the pasting between application.

If there is a problem with a linked file only you will see it because when we open it we don't have that linked file on our computer You can try placing the same file again as sometimes there is nothing wrong with the file. Affinity sometimes just gets "confused" but if it still fails you might have a corrupted (linked) file Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Guido Sardella
The missing linked file is open without problem by Photo 2... I have restarted the computer but the problem is still there... I have also tried to open it in Photo 2, modify the text, resave and then open it in Designer 2, but still it is not able to open it. It's not that it freeze, just it stay working on trying to open it without success, giving no feedback whatsoever. And the missing link on other similar files doesn't create any problem. The files open saying that there is the missing link and asking if want to locate it.
Dan C
Hi Guido, Did you resolve this issue, if not, was the linked file stored locally (ie not connected to a cloud service)? Lee
Guido Sardella
Yes, the issue resolved itself, I don't know how, after a few days. The missing file is stored on a different computer connected by cable, but, as I said, after a few days opening the various files that contained the link was without the problem. Maybe I restarted the other computer and it re-established the correct connection? Sadly I didn't keep track. Thank you very much for the help!
