ShelvsHOTpencil
Ok I am really holding my rage on a short leash right now, and I will do my best to explain my frustration. I worked for weeks on a painting and it took me that long because I was fighting a severe cold, and the bug that will cause my iPad to become unresponsive for a few second with every couple of brush strokes. I powered through, and I was patient, however today I found a new issue that quiet frankly makes me want to stop painting for a while. today while I went to the hamburger menus to save my work, I could only see save as, and not ( save+ save as). So I decided to “save as” as I was almost done. However it replaced my work with a previous back up. by replace I mean it imported the old version and replaced the new one with it. I am floored right now. I regretted buying V2 suite on day 1, I have also invested in so many brushes because I was excited to support you guys. However I have been gutted today, mercilessly gutted by this current built. I do understand that releasing the software on Christmas was a great idea economically, and that the team wants to enjoy their vacations. I am human after all, I do wish you guys would extensively test the application before it was released. I am currently using an iPad air4 + iPad so 16. 2 + 100 go of free space+ my battery health is good. My only hope is to check if I making did have a current backup of my app data. I don’t know if this is going to be my last straw, as I am not thinking straight right now. I am …
Affinity-Inspiration
Hi, I feel your pain, but may I ask which app you are using that has this problem? Designer? Photo? Publisher? Has your problem since been resolved following updates? I have tried to recreate the issue but don’t see it happening. Having said that I did find some erratic behaviour from time to time in the early releases that went away following updates. Also, I have found that the iPad - I use an iPad mini 6 - can be hesitant when it’s doing something else in the background like updating or fetching mail etc. So please let me/us know if you have resolved your issues. Hello, I did not see your reply before my holiday. I am using an iPad ai 4, and it was affinity photo. I was saving my painting to the device rather than the clouds. I switched it up, and I create backups. I have yet to encounter it again, honestly I am not looking forward to the return of this bug. ShelvsHOTpencil
To say that I am filled with regret is an understatement. evens this simple painting is going to lag once you get in the groove. 5000 pix/ 8000 pix on an iPad Air 4. 3 layers, and the same brushes I used on procreate. and the slide show begins. which makes me miserable. This needs to be fixed. the app freeze too often to be used professionally. iuli
Affinity-Inspiration
What are the specs of your iPad? Year. Model, memory size (storage) I ask because I’m on an iPad Mini 6. 256GB. And I don’t have any problems at all. I’ve done hundreds of videos for YouTube on it, with all three apps. Of course a few issues from time to time with updates, and brushes that aren’t made specifically for Affinity. So something is up? Quote iPad Mini 6. 256GB. Publisher. Designer. Thank you for asking me to clarify that. I was referring to the procreate limitation due to the memory restrictions of the iPad . My current work is done only on 3 layers which even procreate would allow me to work on 3 times as much with no headaches. ( 3x 3 layers) i wanted to draw parallel to this fact, why is procreate handling big canvas with more layers meanwhile once you start to work on affinity for a while the issues starts to pop up. I am not on the inside, nor do I know how softwares are devolved/ created. However I want to say that I notice the problems ( brush paging, save being lost) once the file has been worked on for a while ( even as early as in 30 minutes of work) this is a big issue for me. I need the consistency in my affinity programs because I don’t want to fight with the program to paint. from the way I am looking at it, affinity on the iPad Air 4 should be able to handle 3 - 7 layers of painting on a 12000 x 7000 pix and 300 dpi if procreate could. Maybe it’s the complexities of the software, or the way the program handles auto save. I am thinking in my next test I am gonna push auto save to over 1000 sec interval to see if I am write about this one. DM1
ShelvsHOTpencil
I am here because I want to use affinity photo over procreate because it’s too limiting , and does not allow me to have the level of control I have in A P. the selection , adjustment layer, those are the stuffs of legend really when it comes to digital work on the go. I have my finger crossed for a much better , and more stable tool set. I even rebought all my brushes for affinity.
Dazzler
I'm wondering if your iPad is running low on memory due to the number of undos ... I've not tried Photo on iPad as I only have an iPad Air 1 and it doesn't run on that at all, but if there are preferences like on the PC version then try reducing the undo limit down to something like 10 or so undos and see if that makes any difference? If that solves it then you could try gradually increasing the value back up to see how many undos your iPad is happy with. Of course if you don't often use undos, then you can leave it on a low setting and enjoy the extra RAM that will free up.

I agree with Dazzler above. Try clearing History (the time clock icon) more often as it occupies ram that you may need for working. See if it makes a difference.🙂 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
