Affinity Photo 2.0.3 removes parts of the image where the alpha channel is when I paste it

Recommended Posts

Affinity Photo 2.0.3 removes parts of the image where the alpha channel is when I paste it or create a new document via "New from Clipboard". This didn't happen with the first release of Affinity Photo v2. How do I revert back to the old behaviour?

Did version 2.0.0 really not do that? Since V1 was already doing it, it must be a bug that was fixed in version 2.0.3.

P.S. Was the alpha channel in 2.0.0 really all over the "uncut" part of the image?

This has never happened to me in the 4 years I've been using Affinity Photo since version 1.

Yes, the parts that are cut out are exactly where the alpha is.

Maybe I misunderstood your problem, but V1 always worked like this for me:

It works like that for me in both AP V1.10.6 & AP V2.0.3 on my Mac. I works differently in AP Beta V2.0.3.316 -- there is less of the transparent area removed -- but I do not know if I should be using this beta to test with since it is older than the 2.0.3 update.

Hi,

I still have this problem with the latest version 2.0.4 . When I copy an image to clipboard from 3ds Max, Affinity Photo removes the parts where the alpha channel is when I paste it. :44_frowning2: I want the old functionality where it keeps all parts of the image. This is really slowing down my workflow having to constantly save the images to disk instead of copying them to the clipboard.

Can you show us a screenshot of what you mean? The alpha channel is everywhere, so I'm not sure what "where the alpha channel is" even means.

Here are some screenshots. First image is in 3ds Max, 2nd one is what happens when I copy it to clipboard and paste it in Affinity Photo. Notice the sky is gone. If I want to remove the alpha channel, I will do it myself, I don't need Affinity Photo to do it for me without asking.

I have a similar problem. If I copy a photo from a program called PhotoFiltre and paste it into Infinity Photo 2 the picture will not show, I simply see the frame when i select it. If I try with "New from clipboard" the whole picture looks like your sky. If i try paste as I can choose between device independent bitmap and device independent bitmap v5, both with the same above result. No problems with the same clipboard picture when using Infinity Photo 1, there I can paste and see the picture.

Hello??? Any developer could chime in? I am really disappointed by the lack of communication. Are Serif on vacation or something? It's been 2 months now and still not a word from the developers on this issue. That's not the way to treat paying customers.
