jmwellborn Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Almost all of the panels in the Light UI are now wonderfully easy to read in 2.0.3, and very much appreciated! The Layers Panel is still very dark, and has a very strange characteristic. Unless one changes the name of each layer, the words are very dim and grey. But just double-click on the name and even if it is the same, the replacement name will be a nice clear DARK black. Staff Chris B Posted January 13, 2023 Staff Posted January 13, 2023 I'm just trying to find out why this is and if there's a reason for it or if it's just simply a small bug. I would personally prefer the text to be 'lit up' all the time, to be honest. Though the layer names become a crisp white for me, not black? I believe this is the known bug with automatic layer names (which are deliberately dimmer than custom names) not being changed by the Text Contrast slider in Preferences. From left to right: Text Contrast set to Min, Default, and Max - there's no change for the automatic layer names Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
Staff Chris B Posted January 13, 2023 Staff Posted January 13, 2023 Yes I've just had it confirmed unnamed layers just show the layer type and should be greyed out a bit. I'll ask if the Preferences sliders should affect this. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Staff Chris B Posted January 13, 2023 Staff Posted January 13, 2023 To confirm: - Light & Dark UI should use slightly greyer/softer layer names for layer types. Layer types are unnamed layers. - The Preferences sliders should not affect this Currently, Dark UI does this correctly, however Light UI does not. macOS seems fine so it's just Windows affected. Issue logged. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials

Issue logged. While it's good that the layer types are slightly greyer, it would be good if they were also changed by the preference sliders. For text layers these automatic layer names show the text string rather than the layer type and they're very difficult to read compared to v1. These are macOS screenshots.
