Quickly convert curve to selection

Recommended Posts

Assuming that you are using Photo (you don’t say), then the menu items shown in my screen-grab may be of some use.

You can assign a shortcut key/combination to any of these functions via Preferences / Shortcuts.

If this is not what you want then a more-detailed explanation of what you have and what you want to do with it might help us to give better advice.

I assume it's about creating a selection from a path/curve,

for which, unfortunately, there is no command in the menu, and thus no keyboard shortcut.

Performing on a selected layer then a selection from layer keyb cmd ...

... and afterwards deleting (pressing the delete key) of the selected layer, should yield to the same here.

Though here then two keyb commands are needed, instead of just one unavailable one. - Aka ...

  1. Shift-Cmd-O  (Win: Shift-Ctrl-O)  key-combo
  2. Del  key

It doesn't lead to the same thing - give it a try. Selection from Layer creates a selection from the "contents" of the layer, in the case of a curve, from the area defined by the curve and its thickness. Selection using the button on the context toolbar selects the "region" formed by the shape of the closed curve.

Selection from Layer, does the same for me for any closed and filled curve, as using the button then. - Though the selection button closes open curves and removes the layer by just one click, resulting to only the selection.

Rather than creating precisely defined conditions so that I can use a keyboard shortcut to "speed up" the process, I prefer to click the Selection button 🙂
