Not snapping

Darner

Recommended Posts

Hello Affinity!
Came across another snap challenge. See videos!

Video 1:
- Looks like doesn't snap with in cross section with two lines, to another line.
- Some challenges in angles and snapping. Posted similar before, not sure if this counts as same issue.

Video 2:
- Not snapping when rotating outside basic angles.

Video 3:
- Looks like not snapping similar to previous move with power duplicate in similar sized circles.

Not sure if all is bug, and probably workarounds for a one time issue, but would be great with a fix as it's more related to workflow in multiple scenarios.

Have a good day!

Yes the snapping does not do what you ask for, however there are work arounds which could actually be a lot faster.

  • The Rotate segment is often a lot easier using the transform studio and with judicious section of the centre of rotation and a calculation can be entered directly into the numeric entry box for rotation in the transform studio such as = 360/7 and then 6 presses of ^J power duplicate and you have 7 segments accurately snapped around the centre for rotation.
  • Using one of the isometric grids PLUS the little known about Edit in Plane options Top, Bottom, Side for drawing directly any of your shapes in any of three three dimensional figures.

Thank you so much for elaborating Paul. Appreciated!
Unfortunately doesn't solve the concern related to workflow.
Familiar with rotate function you mention, which often used in other scenarios. To set up a isometric grid (if I understood correctly) for a few duplicates in angle (when design mainly not intended for isometric) might not support a more efficient workflow. Hopefully an enhanced snap- and accuracy update from Affinity is on its way. Maybe even a quick fix.
