Grimsby User Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 I'm running Windows10. Yesterday I purchased the updates to V2 of all three apps. I use a MacOS Dock lookalike app called StarDock, (also goes under the name of ObjectDock). You add shortcut icons for any app onto it to have a quick launch instead of cluttering up Windows' Toolbar or scattering the desktop with icons. Most programs when installing offer the option to add a shortcut to the desktop. I'm not sure if Affinity does not offer this option, but if it does then I missed it. Either way, I haven't got such icons for these three apps which I need to be able to drag them onto ObjectDock. I normally solve this problem by going into either Program Files or Program Files (x86), right-clicking on the exe file of the required app and selecting Send to Desktop. Tnere is an Affinity folder in Program Files, but that only contains my V1 copies of the apps. Where has Affinity stored the V2 apps please? Quote

Grimsby User Posted December 15, 2022 Author Posted December 15, 2022 Hi stuck, thank you very much indeed for your extremely swift reply - it is greatly appreciated. All is now well, those notes about MSIX, etc achieved exactly what I needed. Bless you. Quote

I don't know about Win 11 but Win 10 still includes the old Win 7 Quick Launch Toolbar. It takes a few clicks to set it up but it's not rocket science: https://www.lifewire.com/add-quick-launch-toolbar-in-windows-10-5115231 It's also less money than a third party app like Stardock 😀 Quote
Grimsby User Posted December 15, 2022 Author Posted December 15, 2022 Thank you again stuck for this suggestion. I do quite like Stardock, and I actually upgraded to the paid-for version quite a long time ago, so it's too late to save money with this free alternative. Nevertheless I do like an uncluttered desktop, and I do keep a large selection of shortcut icons, so I may well still add a Quick Launch Toolbar anyway. The instructions available via that link consistently refer to adding apps. Do I correctly assume that a QLToolbar can just as easily have folders added to it, in the same way that the Taskbar can? I don't have folders on my QL but I've just tried to add one by dragging a folder from Explorer and dropping it on the toolbar and it let me do that. Quote
