How do I keep AD2 from becoming the active window?

Recommended Posts

Win10/AD2

With AD1, when I clicked on a .afdesign file, AD1 stayed in the background, it didn't become the active window - SEE VIDEO. It was a WONDERFUL feature - I could open several files without having to switch back to explorer each time. AD1 came preset with that feature. How do I make AD2 do that?

Thank you.

I would have thought that is a system setting not an app setting, there is no setting in either version v1 or v2 of Affinity Designer to make that happen.

It could be that Affinity Designer is full screen by the look in the video and windows explorer is windowed, just a thought!

@firstdefence,

Thank you for your reply.

At first I thought it was luck, but I've installed AD1 on 3 different Win10 laptops and it always does the same thing. I started searching the web on how to force it, but all I can find are ways to stop it. Usually I'd just reverse the instructions, but that doesn't seem to work. It's so odd.

yes I did do a google search and saw that the results were trying to fix the lack of focus not maintain it lol!

I did find a few free apps that keeps a window on top and in focus so you could try them...

DeskPins is completely free and lets you "pin" any window, keeping it on top of all others, no matter what. Pinned windows are marked with a red pin and can be "auto-pinned" based on the window's title.

Window On Top is another free program that works in much the same way. Drag the mouse pointer from Window On Top and drop it on a window to make it stay on top. Or, use the Ctrl+F8hotkey.

But at least this is a line of enquiry you can look at.

I can't test them as I use Mac.
