nlaffan
Ah, thank you! This works great. Just out of curiosity, when you say "is as per V1" do you mean it's a known bug that just hasn't been addressed?

Just out of curiosity, when you say "is as per V1" do you mean it's a known bug that just hasn't been addressed? Yes, almost certainly a bug rather than a deliberate limitation. Here are some tests from the desktop, setting much larger grids which happily display and are fully functional on the iPad so long as you do not adjust the Grid size spacing input box which is defective. EDIT: Added some Big Grid Macros if you happen to use Photo or Publisher Studiolink EDIT2: Found another bug in Publisher version of Photo, some of the attached macros set 10 sub divisions, whilst this works on iPad version of Photo it does not give 10 sub divisions in Photo in Publisher. iPad Big Grids.afmacros Quote My dad always told me, a bad workman always blames their tools…. lwampler
It’s absolutely ridiculous that this bug has carried over from version 1 to 2. A simple 1” grid can be accomplished as expected on the Mac version, then imported to the iPad version as a workaround (which I created the other day for someone on Reddit), but the iPad can’t create anything larger than .853”. STILL. And if the answer is to use guides instead, well why even have grids as an option? Seriously, with this and so many other bugs, it’s like Serif just doesn’t care about testing & instead wants us all to pay to be alpha/beta testers — yet not even fix a lot of what is reported back about what ails their products. Staff Sean P Posted January 16, 2023 Staff Share Posted January 16, 2023 Hi nlaffan, Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately the maximum grid size is incorrectly attached to the document's DPI. The lower the DPI, the higher the maximum grid spacing that is allowed. This is something we're aware of and is with development to be fixed. I've bumped the issue with them. thoroughburro
I just wanted to say, this has been driving me bonkers for the past few days. My new workflow is that I have to work at a lower DPI to use the grid settings which make the task easy — than convert the document to the proper DPI for exporting and test printing. Par for the Affinity course. Buying 2.0 continues to feel like an insulting mistake, and one I will be far more cautious about come 3.0. Paul Mudditt
I still say this has to be a very easy fix, if only the devs would look at this. I have recorded macros on the desktop with some sample very large grids, when used on the iPad they work perfectly including snap to grid. All that is wrong in my opinion is the contents of the data entry box are artificially limited. If you use Studiolink Designer you can use these macros in Studiolink Photo then switch to Designer and use them there as well until macros are added to Designer. Robert Hansford
Just chiming in here; looking for updates. Still having grid issues. Creating the documents on desktop doesn’t seem to circumvent this. Creating a 1” grid on desktop and opening on iPad still gives a .853 grid if the dpi is over 300. Happening in both current versions and beta. Stay well and stay positive guys. - Best, Rob IMG_0380.MOV Quote 2020 M1 Mac Mini, 16GB, Mac OS Sonoma 14.1.1 iPad Pro 12.9, Gen 4, iPad OS 16.3.
